Sprinkler Winterizations- Protect your Sprinkler System
Winter is fast approaching and the time to winterize your Denver Sprinkler System is now. Ensuring that the water is off can save you from having your basement or finished lower level flooded. A sprinkler system can be destroyed by our winter weather. The electric control valve manifold can be shattered by the ice created inside during freezing temperatures. The lateral lines and heads also have the potential to be damaged from the cold.
Not all systems are allowed to drain by gravity. There is technology to save water which does not allow the system to drain when properly installed. Some cities even mandate these Seal-A-Matic (SAM) heads. Using a large tow behind compressor (185 CFM) is the only way to ensure proper winterizations. The amount of air flowing through, measured in Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) is similar to Gallons Per Minute (GPM). The air flow allows the heads to remained sealed and evacuate all the water in the lateral lines & heads. A large 6 foot tall electrical compressor puts out about 5.5-6.5CFM in comparison.
